Glazed Beef Skewers
Built around beef sirloin and red bell pepper -- the method starts by if using wooden skewers.

Smoke, char, and a sticky glaze -- everything good about cooking over fire. Here it's built on beef sirloin, red bell pepper and red onion -- a medium, BBQ recipe that starts by if using wooden skewers, and is ready in roughly 35 minutes.
A 35-minute cook time that's mostly hands-off simmering or roasting.
A few technique steps to focus on, but nothing that needs special equipment.
Built around beef sirloin, so the flavor comes from real ingredients, not a spice packet.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb (680 g) beef sirloin, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 red bell pepper, cut into chunks
- 1 red onion, cut into chunks
- 3 tbsp soy sauce

- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp grated ginger
- 1 tbsp oil

Method
If using wooden skewers, soak them in water 20 minutes so they do not burn.
Mix the soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger, and oil into a glaze. Toss the beef in half of it and marinate 20 minutes.
Thread the beef, pepper, and onion onto the skewers, alternating, without packing them tightly (air helps them cook evenly).
Heat the grill or a grill pan to high.
Grill the skewers 8-10 minutes, turning every couple of minutes, until the beef is browned and cooked to your liking.
In the last 2 minutes, brush with the rest of the glaze so it caramelizes without burning.
Rest 3 minutes and serve.
The step worth not rushing: Thread the beef, pepper, and onion onto the skewers, alternating, without packing them tightly (air helps them cook evenly).
